Dys4ia is a microgame video game developed and published by Anna Anthropy in 2012-03-04 as a free browser game. It was programmed in Flash.

The game tries to capture what things are like for a person trying to get hormone therapy as they transition to female. It does this by having the player move through various scenes, each designed as a microgame.

Personal

Own?No. This game was never sold.
Won?Yes.
Finished2024-03-29.

I found this game randomly in Flashpoint and played it. While I didn't care much for the game play, the message is very important.

Good

  • The game takes you through the difficulties faced by a transgender person, the various stages they have to go through during the transition process, and tries to capture just how difficult it can be.
  • Some of the pixel art looks really good.

Bad

  • Because it's little more than a brief series of microgames, the game will be over in only a few minutes no matter how good or badly you do.
  • As is common with most games based on microgames, they're incredibly simple. Usually, microgames become more complex as you progress, but these stay simple the entire time. I get that the game's primary goal is to tell a story, and not become a challenge, but I would still like more complex game play.
  • I found the spoken sound effects to be a bit annoying.

Ugly

  • Nothing.
