Video games in this category are tie-ins for topics that were originally not released as video games such as films, TV shows, comic books, product branding, and the like. Tie-in games are usually made on a very tight schedule to coincide with the release of the product, resulting in a shoddy game which is rarely enjoyable. When I was a child, the allure of the tie-in often tricked me into buy terrible games, but now, after being burned by so many bad tie-in games, I almost never buy or even bother trying to play them. However, occasionally a decent title is made from a tie-in. Some companies even excelled at making tie-ins, like Capcom.
