Arturus

Arturus is the final boss of Bionic Commando: Elite Forces.

Arturus was once a member of Karinia's Elite Forces, much like the main characters. However, he was banished when his overwhelming greed and lust for power became too much for the General of the Elite Forces to take.

Arturus eventually took control of the Avars, who would become the bane of Karinia, and based on an old manuscript, would search out the Albatross. Because, far from the traditional story of it being a weapon used to fend off an alien invasion, this manuscript claimed that the Albatross was ITSELF an alien craft with the power to transform a person into a being of unimaginable power in addition to being a nearly unstoppable aerial battleship.

The General of the Elite Forces sent Commander Joe to stop him, but this great hero of Karinia was captured, leaving them with one last desperate hope to stop Arturus- send in a young member of the Elite Forces.

This young commando did just this, battling through the Avar forces, rescuing Commander Joe, and hindering Arturus's plans whenever possible. However, Arturus was still successful in launching the Albatross, and the Commando and Commander Joe had to sneak on board.

The commando fought his (or her, depending on the player's choice) way through the Albatross's defenses, making his (or her) way to where Arturus lay in wait. After explaining his goals, Arturus demonstrated the true power of the Albatross, morphing into a monstrous green beast that was immune to the commando's attacks for limited spurts of time. This form was invincible and possessed greater speed and power than any other boss.

And even when he temporarily turned back into his normal self for brief spurts during the battle, Arturus was still a dire threat, wielding dual weapons with rapid-fire, heavily-damaging projectiles that he could fire straight forward or at a 45 degree angle and moving every bit as fast as his other form.

However, through perseverence, wit, and determination, the commando managed to defeat Arturus and escaped the Albatross with Commander Joe as it exploded due to explosive charges the two had set.

Trivia

• According to a secret humorous wire tap message, Arturus is fond of making his famous chocolate-chip cookies. He says that he loves chocolate, so he uses five pounds of chocolate chips in his recipe, but his underlings are free to use less. He also reminds them that it is Avar law to have an adult with them while using a stove.
• Another secret humorous message shows Arturus conversing with the Executioner regarding how to work his VCR to record his favorite programs while he is not there. He quite clearly does not understand it at all, leaving the Executioner sighing in exasperation.
