Attaching a guard

guards are very good looking on a weapon and can save you in combat, too! For aregular cross guard you can either take a small bit of pool noodle (pipe insulation) and cut it into fourths the long way. Cut two identical pieces. These will wrap around the blade at the bottom near the handle. Just securely tape them together and onto the boffer with duct tape and you have a guard! You can also take a bolt and drill it through the pipeing where ever you want the guard, and you have one!

You may also form a V guard by taking two bolts (or screws) and drilling them in. These are great for trapping an opponents blade.

You may also form a guard the covers your hand. You need to cut a piece of pipeing into thirds. Tape one end on the hilt of the sword (works best with out a pommel)and tapeing the other end to the base of the blade at the top of the grip. This guard works great for parrying daggers.
