William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825-11-30 - 1905-08-19) was a French painter who primarily painted in the European academic, although he also painted a lot of realism. His paintings are primarily scenes of young women and mythology. He was quite popular during his life in both France and the USA.
Personal
Due to his popularity, I had seen Bouguereau's art in various books and galleries growing up, and I've always liked his work. His ability to paint a range of wholesome children, violent battles, and erotic nudes really impresses me. I'm also really impressed by his ability to pain such realistic clothing.
