The Wii U and its gamepad.

The Wii U is an eighth generation home video game console developed by Nintendo and manufactured by Foxconn and Mitsumi and first released by Nintendo on 2012-11-18. The Wii U uses a portable wireless gamepad with a screen, but can also be attached to a television for a unique hybrid experience. Games were distributed on a proprietary Wii U Optical Disc but the console was also backward compatible with the miniDVD optical discs from the Wii and could download games through Nintendo's eShop. Unlike the hugely successful Wii before it, the Wii U was not especially popular, selling only around 14 million units.

The console's CPU is a 1.24 GHz Tri-Core IBM PowerPC named Espresso. It's GPU is a 550 MHz AMD Radeon-based chip named Latte.

Personal

I never owned or even played a Wii U. A couple of my friends had one, and the few games I saw looked fun, but I never played any of them.

Review

I don't know enough about the console to review it.

Games

See all Wii U Games.

The console launched with 11 games in Japan and 29 games in the USA. It did not include any pack-in games.

There currently aren't any games released on the Wii U that are important to me.
