Where's Waldo?, known in the UK as Where's Wally?, is a series of cartoon game books created by Martin Handford that has expanded into various forms of media. The primary objective in each book is to find the titular character, Waldo, in a large complicated scene, and each book contained several large scenes. Secondary goals were listed in the back of the books and included other objects to be found throughout the scenes. The series began with a traveler named Waldo, but each new book introduced new themes, characters, and generally expanded the universe.
The first book in this series I saw was the US release of, Where's Waldo? in elementary school, shortly after the book was released. I liked the book enough that my mother bought me Find Waldo Now. I spent a lot of time poring over that book finding every single thing possible listed in the back of the book. My cousin had The Great Waldo Search, and we looked through that book which I really liked too. We would often stay up at night with lighted magnifying glasses looking for the various hidden objects. Later, my mother bought me Where's Waldo?: The Ultimate Fun Book, which was a really cool activity book, however, it was becoming pretty ridiculous finding just a tiny head instead of a full Waldo. I still have stickers from it on some of my old furniture from it. My cousins also later got Where's Waldo In Hollywood?, which I liked, but I was getting a bit old for the books by then. I haven't seen any of the more recent works.
