A depressing tale about a 1930s couple trying to win a dance marathon contest. The clinically depressed Gloria convinces average guy Robert to be her partner, in an attempt to get into the pictures with the prize money, but she's unable to pretend she doesn't hate the world or herself, and Robert is having a hard time coping with her.
