The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a comedic science fiction novel written by Douglas Adams and published on 1979-10-12. It is the first book in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

The book follows the sad life of Arthur Dent as he fails to score chicks, loses his house, and watches the entire Earth get demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass. Adams' does a wonderful job of pointing out all the silly things that alien creatures do and the reader has a good laugh at their silliness until they realize that they do something awfully similar.

Personal

Own?Two compilation books.
Read?Compilation book.
Finished1999.

I'd heard about this book for years before finally seeing a cheap collection of the series at a B. Dalton. I remember being a little peeved about some of the swipes at religion because I was still religious at the time, but I still found it to be hilarious. I loved the series ever since.
