Structured Query Language
Structured Query Language, known more commonly as SQL, is a computer programming language used for creating, managing, and processing relational databases. It was designed in 1974 by IBM engineers and has since become the most popular database language in the world. SQL is an open standard that continues to see improvement.
SQL has two common pronunciations, ESS-cue-el and SEE-kwel; I usually use the latter.
I started using SQL when I got my first computer programming job at age 19, and have been using it ever since.
