In my teens I was an Evangelical [[Christianity|Christian]] and was taught that queer people were evil, so I had a very negative opinion of any queer characters in media and only approved of them when they were punished. After leaving religion and meeting plenty of wonderful queer people, I became ashamed of how terrible I was to them. I now openly embrace queer people and see positive queer representation in media to be a wonderful thing.
