Nintendo Player's Guide is a series of hint books published by Nintendo and Tokuma Shoten Publishing from 1991 to 2007. Each issue focused either on a specific game or topic and over 100 magazines were released. They were originally designed primarily by Work House, but, by mid-1990s, design was shifting to V-Design. Although the majority of guides were made for Nintendo's own games, dozens were made for the games of other companies.

The first book to bear the name "Nintendo Player's Guide" was The Official Nintendo Player's Guide released in 1987, which doesn't appear to have been intended as a series. Later, Nintendo Power began publishing strategy guides in between its regular bi-monthly schedule; a total of four Nintendo Power Strategy Guides were published from June 1990 to December 1990. Once Nintendo Power began its monthly cycle, Nintendo Player's Guide became an independent series, with the first issue being released in 1991. Issues initially sold for $15, and continued at that price well into the 2000s. The series lasted until 2007 when Nintendo discontinued their in-house guides and began officially outsourcing the hint books of their games to Prima.

In my youth, these guides were coveted by anyone who had the game on which the guide focused. I personally had only a couple, as I preferred to spend what little money I had on new games, but I loved looking through them; they were well-designed to captivate the gamers of the day.
