Nekogames is a Japanese video game development web site headed by game designer Yoshio Ishii who started making online games in 1999. The bulk of the games on the site are made solely by Ishii, but he sometimes collaborates with other developers. Most of his early games were made in Shockwave and Flash, but, as those technologies went extinct, he migrated to HTML5 and still releases games on a regular basis.

"Neko" is the Japanese word word "cat."

Personal

I don't remember the very first Nekogames title I played; I think it was Cursor*10, but it may have been one of the Hoshi Saga games. I enjoyed all of the games I played, but, as Flash slowly became obsolete, I played fewer titles. When I discovered Flashpoint, it not only rekindled my interest in Nekogames, but gave me access to a lot of other games I had missed out on. I particularly like that Nekogames creates games in a wide variety of genres, and that many of the games are rather strange and unique. One downside of Nekogames is that a large percentage of the games are in Japanese which make them difficult to play.
