Jesus Nitelite

Jesus Nitelite is an alternative rock song by Eve 6 composed by Max Collins, Jon Siebels, and Tony Fagenson. It was released as track 6 on the album Eve 6 on 1998-04-28. In concert, Max Collins explained how, when he was younger, he had a Jesus nitelite. The first three times I saw Eve 6, they didn't play this song, which makes sense because it's much slower. I really wanted to hear it live, and I finally got my chance at the 20th anniversary tour of the debut album. Unfortunately, Max had altered his vocal style for the night, and it didn't sound that great.
Unlike most Eve 6 songs, Jesus Nitelite is slower, more reserved, and features a more melodious sound. The song describes a person of less-than-perfect moral character pining after someone who is very righteous and probably religious, and is oblivious to the admiration. The person is unable to properly express their feelings and keep kicking themself because they missed the right time to do so.

Personal
I tend to enjoy songs where a person ineptly fails at speaking properly to their crush because it reminds me so much of my younger self, and, when coupled with this song's fantastic sound and vague lyrics, I really love it.
Lyrics
Your eyes shine bright like a Jesus nitelite I'd like to touch your positive vibes Indifferent eyes won't give me the time May I help put aside your moral fiber You're dressed in white and my face is white I'd like to be a colorful sight to see I'm only here in a background Here on the ground lays my head I sleep and then I wake make sounds and go to bed and wake again The time is right but I feel all wrong It wastes away until it's gone The time is right but I feel all wrong It fades away and now you're gone Yeah, my time is right, and still I feel all wrong It wastes away and now you're gone You're walking by I'm standing by Behind the light I'm standing by By and by The time is right but I feel all wrong It wastes away until it's gone The time is right but I feel all wrong It fades away and now you're gone Yeah, my time is right, but still I feel all wrong It wastes away until it's gone, now it's gone, and here we go Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh oh oh oh, Yeah! Yeah! Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
