Inside Out is an alternative rock song by Eve 6 composed by Max Collins, Jon Siebels, and Tony Fagenson. It was first released as track 2 on the album Eve 6 on 1998-04-28. The song also had additional releases as well. In the USA two different promotional CDs were released, one with a pop edit, the other with two different radio call out hooks. In Europe, singles were released on 1998-05-26 on both CD and 7" vinyl. The CD included b-sides of Showerhead and Saturday Night, while the vinyl had only Showerhead.

Personal
I first heard this song at a friend's house who had the album, and it was the very first Eve 6 song I listened to. I remember, despite having a default hatred of my generation's pop music, I kind of liked the song. This song ended up being an Eve 6 gateway, because I now own all their albums, and have seen them in concert several times. An interesting note, in one live performance I attended, Max Collins prefaced the song saying, "This is a song I wrote when I was an asshole." I take this to mean that he now regrets how he treated the person who is the topic of this song, which, considering he wrote this song as a teenager, is reasonable.
Despite hearing this song hundreds of time, I still really love it. I like the over all structure of the song, starting fairly simple but becoming much more aggressive by the end, I like the bridge, and I love the break in the chorus. I also like several of the lyrics like "find nothing, but faith in nothing," "when you get close, tie me to the bedpost," and the play between "burn, burn" and "tick-tock."
The first time I saw Eve 6 in concert, I bought a shirt which had the phrase "tie me to the bed post," written on the front. One day, I wore this shirt to dinner and my server, a very pretty woman, explained how she loved my shirt and, after talking for awhile, even admitted that she occasionally liked having rough sex and being tied down. I wasn't positive if she was hitting on me, or if she was just uninhibited with her speech, so, I didn't make a move, but I did become friends with the woman. In general, I try to be more reserved with servers. They're at their place of work, and their income partially depends on how nice and flirty they are, so I just assume they're trying to get a bigger tip and not a date.
Lyrics
I would swallow my pride I would choke on the rinds But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside Swallow my doubt Turn it inside out Find nothin', but faith in nothin' I wanna to put my tender Heart in a blender Watch it spend 'round to a beautiful oblivion Rendezvous, then I'm through with you I burn, burn like a wicker cabinet Chalk white and oh so frail I see our time has gotten stale The tick-tock of the clock is painful All sane and logical I want to tear it off the wall I hear words and clips and phrases I think sick like ginger ale My stomach turns and I exhale I would swallow my pride I would choke on the rinds But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside I would swallow my doubt Turn it inside out Find nothin', but faith in nothin' I wanna to put my tender Heart in a blender Watch it spend 'round to a beautiful oblivion Rendezvous, then I'm through with you SoCal is where my mind states But it's not my state of mind I'm not as ugly sad as you Or am I origami? Folded up and just pretend Demented as the motives in your head I would swallow my pride I would choke on the rinds But the lack thereof would leave me empty inside I would swallow my doubt Turn it inside out Find nothin', but faith in nothin' I wanna to put my tender Heart in a blender Watch it spend 'round to a beautiful oblivion Rendezvous, then I'm through with you I alone am the one you don't know you need Take heed feed your ego Make me blind when you eyes close Sink when you get close Tie me to the bedpost I alone am the one you don't know you need You don't know you need me Make me blind when your eyes close Tie me to the bedpost I would swallow my pride I would choke on the rinds The lack thereof would leave me empty inside Swallow my doubt Turn it inside out Find nothin', but faith in nothin' Wanna to put my tender Heart in a blender Watch it spend 'round to a beautiful oblivion Rendezvous, then I'm through Now I'm through with you Through with you Rendezvous, then I'm through with you
