Indiana Jones (universe)
Indiana Jones is an action adventure franchise created by George Lucas which focuses on a fictional hero named Indiana Jones, an archeologist from the 1930s who travels the world collecting relics from booby-trap laden tombs, beating up Nazis and cultists, and always getting the girl. The franchise includes several films, a television series, a couple dozen video games, scores of books, and tons of other merchandise.

Personal
I remember watching and absolutely loving Indiana Jones films when I was a child. My oldest memory is when Last Crusade came out. I know I had already seen Raiders, and I'm pretty sure I had seen Temple, so I was really looking forward to Last Crusade. I first saw it, right after it was released on VHS, at my uncle's house around 1989. Although my family didn't have the films, I would frequently watch them when I was at someone's house who did, or when they randomly appeared on TV. I also played a lot of the different video games based on the series. When The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, I watched the first episode, and even recorded it to VHS, but because I didn't have my own TV, I missed a lot of the episodes. When the Indiana Jones VHS boxed set was released, I got it and loved it. I had always been aching for a new film to come out since the 1990s, and, when Crystal Skull was finally released, almost 20 years after Crusade, I really hoped it would be good. Sadly, I was severely disappointed. Because of that, I have no interest in the fifth film that's currently in production.
Through my formative years, I saw the character Indiana Jones as a real paragon of masculinity. Tough and rugged, yet handsome and intelligent. However, while I still think he has a lot of good attributes, looking back on the series in my late-30s, I realized that he's actually pretty awful as well. His primary goal is to rob indigenous people of their most sacred artifacts. You could argue that he does this to help educate people, but he thoroughly neglects his students. Finally, much of his life was spent sexually assaulting women and even girls.
