In the Garage is an emo alternative rock song by Weezer. It was recorded in the summer of 1993 and released as track 8 on the blue album on 1994-05-10. The song was written, composed, and sung by Rivers Cuomo. The song is pretty basic consisting of only two verses and a single chorus repeated four times.

The song is about being in solitude with your thoughts and hobbies in a safe place where you don't have to worry about being judged or ridiculed by outsiders.

Personal

During my geeky introverted childhood, I fell in love with this song as I not only related to the desire to be left alone in my room, but also shared an appreciation with some of the hobbies listed including Dungeons & Dragons and X-Men, although I've never been a big fan of Kiss, and while I've always wanted to have musical talent, I do not.

In particular, I enjoy the harmonica opening that is repeated later on electric guitar, and the lyric, "I write these stupid words, and I love every one!" as well as the first sentence of the chorus, "In the garage, I feel safe, no one cares about my ways."

Lyrics

I've got a Dungeon Master's Guide
I've got a 12-sided die
I've got Kitty Pryde
and Nightcrawler too
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do
I've got posters on the wall
My favorite rock group Kiss
I've got Ace Frehley
I've got Peter Criss
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

In the garage, I feel safe
No one cares about my ways
In the garage where I belong
No one hears me sing this song
In the garage

I've got an electric guitar
I play my stupid songs
I write these stupid words
And I love every one
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do

In the garage, I feel safe
No one cares about my ways
In the garage where I belong
No one hears me sing this song
In the garage, in the garage, yah!

In the garage, I feel safe
No one cares about my ways
In the garage where I belong
No one hears me sing this song

In the garage, I feel safe
No one laughs about my ways
In the garage where I belong
No one hears me
No one hears me
No one hears me
No one hears me
No one hears me sing this song
