Harry Potter Candy

The Harry Potter books feature all sorts of candies and sweets, several of which were made into real-life products as movie tie-ins. While the majority of Harry Potter merchandise was decent quality, the bulk of of the candy was, unfortunately, very low-quality. Excluding the jelly beans, they were just existing cheap candies re-packaged and sold at a premium. The graphic design on the wrappers is fantastic though.

Acid Pops are sour suckers. There is only one color and flavor. They tasted fine, but didn't warrant the price.

Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans

Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans.

Made by Jelly Belly, Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans were well-conceived and nicely executed. Like the books, they contain traditional flavors mixed with very unusual flavors like earwax and vomit. Over the years, they swapped out new flavors. They were pretty expensive, but enjoyable. My friends and I would play candy roulette, each eating an unknown bean and seeing who got the gross one. I only wish they sold a box containing only the strange flavors, since there were so few of them in each small box. You could always mix in traditional flavors at your leisure if you desired.

Blood Pops

I never had Blood Pops. According to the packaging, they're just strawberry-flavored suckers. So, it sounds like they're just an over-priced version of some existing candy.

Chocolate Frogs

These candies were milk chocolate shaped to form a thin frog. They had a good flavor, but since they were just chocolate, they were far over-priced. Like in the books, each frog came with a trading card featuring a wizard from the series.

Drooble's Best Blowing Gum

Drooble's Best Blowing Gum.

Drooble's Best Blowing Gum is a bag of blue cotton candy-flavored gumballs with the name "Drooble" printed on each ball. Despite the name, they are of poor-quality. They're hard, lose their flavor very quickly, and aren't very useful for blowing large bubbles. Basically, they're just the cheap gumballs you'd get from a vending machine at ten times the cost.

Fizzing Whizbees

Fizzing Whizbees are just Pop Rocks with different packaging and a much higher price.

Jelly Slugs

Jelly Slugs.

I never had Jelly Slugs, but I presume they are like most of the Harry Potter licensed candies, an over-priced version of some existing gummi candy.
