In my youth, both my older brother and sister were fans of Tom Petty, and this album especially. Because of this, I heard this album a fair amount growing up. Although I typically objected to their music by default as a means of individuality, over time this album grew on me. In my early 20s, I bought myself a copy and listened to it a lot. Although I find most of the songs to be a bit too repetitive, I now really like the album. Full Moon Fever is the first solo album by Tom Petty; it was released on vinyl, cassette, and CD on 1989-04-24. Although it's technically a solo album, only three of the tracks were written entirely by Petty, most of them were co-written by Jeff Lynne. All of the tracks feature guest musicians including contributions from the Heart Breakers, Roy Orbison, and George Harrison, and Lynne. The songs on the album are primarily rock, specifically heartland rock.
