Dune (universe)
Dune is a science fiction universe created by Frank Herbert in 1965, originally as a series of novels, but expanded into film, games, comics, and various other forms of media.
My first encounter with Dune was from the 1984 film, which my family had rented in the mid-1980s. I remember my mom saying that the movie had giant worms, which I thought would be cool, but the pacing of the movie was so slow, I stopped watching it. Years later, I bought the director's cut on VHS and really enjoyed it. That led me to buying the book and reading it, and really enjoying it. I have still only scratched the surface of the universe, but I suspect I'll delve into it more over time.
