DragonLance is a fantasy world created initially by Tracy Hickman, but expanded by Margaret Weis, Douglas Niles, Richard A. Knaak, and many other authors. The cover art for many of the books was created by Larry Elmore. The world contains various media including Dungeons & Dragons modules, books, movies, and more.
Most of my nerdy high school friends were really big into the series, and although I was also really into fantasy, I found the number of novels too intimidating to begin reading the series. Instead, I began with the Tales books, not reading the core novels until my 30s when they seemed too juvenile to really appreciate.
