A documentary is a non-fiction film meant to document reality in order to educate the viewer on its specific topic for instructional or historical purposes. A documentary film can employ all the tricks of the film making process to create a very rich and visual document that can't be made with a traditional manuscript.
When I was really young, I didn't have the patience for documentaries, and preferred my entertainment to rapid-paced action. However, my mother, always a supporter of PBS, watched a lot of documentary programs like Nova. Because of this, even as a child, I started to appreciate documentaries more than other kids my age, and my fondness for them has only grown over the years. I now prefer them over most fictional movies and television series.
