Dangerous Dungeons is a platformer video game developed and published by Adventure Islands as a browser game on 2011-06-??. It's the first game in the Dangerous Dungeons series and was developed in Flash using Stencyl.

In the game, you play as a treasure hunter looking for valuable artifacts in an ancient dungeon. You must jump over obstacles and hazards to safely reach them.

Personal

Own?No. This game was never sold.
Won?Yes. Story mode. I've unlocked 7/10 achievements.
Finished2024-11-18.

After playing two of the later games in the series, I decided to try to play the original. I quickly recognized it as a more primitive version of Super Dangerous Dungeons, so, having already found the secret stages, I was able to beat it without much difficulty, except for having to re-practice some of the autoscroller levels.

Good

  • For a free Flash game, it has decent graphics, and the character design offers a bit of personality to the player's character.
  • The music is adequate and there are a fair amount of tracks.
  • The built-in speedrun mode is a nice feature.
  • Most of the levels are difficult enough to die a few times, without being so hard that they anger you (save the final level, but this is acceptable).
  • I liked the cameo of the companion cube.

Bad

  • The game is a little on the dull side. Other than the hidden levels, it was nothing more than a long series of jumping puzzles.
  • The player control isn't quite as tight as I would like for a precise platformer.
  • There are several problems with collision detection.
    • Some of the walls cause you to get stuck on them while jumping against them.
    • The fire and moving spikes have a hit box that is just a little too big.
    • The player's character hits his head too easily.
  • I would have liked a more fitting video game font.
  • Drowning in water that is more shallow than the your character is tall looks silly. Had they used acid instead, it would have fixed this.
  • Even after to find and complete the three secret levels, you're required to play them all again to get to the final level in the stage select. This is rather annoying.

Ugly

  • Nothing.
