CDex is a free open source CD ripper. This has been my go-to CD ripper for years now.

Review

Good

  • It has a no-nonsense interface.
  • It supports ripping into several formats, including FLAC.
  • It has support for CDDB for easy tagging.
  • It has pretty good jitter correction, and was able to salvage songs that my CD player couldn't read.

Bad

  • You're forced to use a music genre from their limited list.

Ugly

  • None.
