The Appalachian Trail is a contiguous single hiking trail from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine through the Appalachian Mountains. The trail is around 2,200 miles, and, although there are longer trails in the world, the Appalachian Trail is the longest hiking-only trail in the world. Hiking the entire trail takes around 6-7 months on average to complete and only about 1 in 6 people who setup to hike the whole trail in a single season complete it.
