Vinyl cover.

A Day At the Races is the fifth studio album by Queen. It was released on 1976-12-10 on vinyl and produced by Queen themselves without the help of Roy Thomas Baker. While the has a couple hard rock songs, it focuses much more on romance and relationships that previous albums. Like A Night At the Opera before it, this album has a Marx Brothers title and uses a monochromatic motif, only black instead of white.

Despite being my fourth favorite Queen album, this was one of the last Queen albums I bought, though, I'm not sure why. My first copy came from the Crown Jewels box set my high school girlfriend bought me, but I later bought an individual CD for the bonus tracks. Before I got the album, I only knew the songs "Tie Your Mother Down," "Somebody to Love," and "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy" from compilation albums, but I quickly began enjoying the other songs that were new to me.

Status

I own this album on CD, and have two copies on vinyl.
