Would you like to be part of the ever growing database of videogame music? We are looking for able-bodied people to help contribute to the VGMPF. There are several types of people we're looking for to
help expand the database as seen below.

Researchers
If you can get information about hidden tracks, composers, or various other music related info, we want it. We would especially like to figure out who wrote music for games that don't list credits.
View the Unknown Composer List for all of the missing composers.
Also, many videogames use classical music as part of their soundtrack. This is partially because most classical music is in the public domain, but also because classical music adds some culture and style
to the music that you can't get anywhere else. There is an extremely large amount of classical music and it is a demanding task to become an aficionado. Because most classical music is in the public domain,
it's rare to have the composer credited. However, in order to provide a complete listing of game credits the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation makes every attempt to credit all of the composers whose
work is utilized. However, because of the scope of classical music it is often difficult for us to readily discern the original composer or the proper name of the work. For each piece that may be classical
in nature, we've added a link to the song, and any clues as to the origin.

Sounds like it was originally done on organ. |

J.S. Bach is listed in the credits of the game, but his contributed tracks are not listed. |

Rippers
Rips must be in their original format. If the game created their own audio format, then keep it in that format. Someone will write a converter or player for it eventually. Do not convert to General MIDI
if the game didn't use it. If the method for storing the music is unique then create your format for storing the audio data to extract it in. Only rip from freeware games or games that are at least ten
years old.
|
Recorders
Submitted recordings should be encoded into FLAC at 16 bit stereo quality. For looping music, have two full loops and a ten second fade out as the third loop. Official soundtrack times are acceptible,
but we prefer our standard because some soundtracks will loop the song too many times or not enough. Again, only record from freeware games or games older than ten years.

Programmers
We always need a player that supports new audio formats. If you have a player that supports one or more of the original videogame formats please notify us, we'd be happy to showcase
it. Winamp plug-ins are preferred, but stand-alones are also appreciated.
The following formats do not have a Winamp plug-in that we're aware of:

PSM |
Epic Pinball, Jazz Jackrabbit, One Must Fall, One Must Fall 2097 |
We'd really love to see a plug-in that emulates the Roland MT-32 hardware for playing MIDI.
