Game
Although Ultima 3 defined many of the ingrediants that would we used by most of the RPGs that followed it, Ultima 4 was landmark in the fact that it defined the role of a hero. Instead of merely walking through a dungeon killing monsters and getting gold you actually had to walk the straight and narrow path of a hero. You gave money to the poor, told the truth, showed honor and valor, resisted temptation, and sacrificed everything to become the hallowed and sacred symbol of the people: The Avatar! In 1985 Ultima 4 was released for the Apple II, Commodore 64, and DOS. The DOS version had the best graphics, the Apple II version had the best sound, and the Commodore version had passable graphics and sound. Later on Ultima 4 was ported to several higher powered systems.
Music
Once again, the Apple II Mockingboard had better music quality, but the Commodore still sounded decent for the time. Some of the tunes will be remembered from Ultima 3, but there are several new tracks to enjoy as well. The unknown tracks are short repetitive beats. If anyone knows what they're from please let us know.
Ripping
Ripping Commodore music is a very arduous process that is beyond the scope of this site.
