Reviews
Game
Times of Lore was like an RPG trainer for players still new to the genre. It was built to be relatively easy to play and follow along so that younger adventure seekers could enjoy the RPG scene. While I personally think they failed at this through such a poor interface the game did alright in sales thanks to OSI's great success at the time.
Music
The music for DOS based machines allowed for the PC speaker, Creative Music System, and AdLib cards. The rip features the FM synthesis music stored in Origin's custom music format (*.M). The music is decent for the time, but unfortunately it kept the Commodore 64 implementation. All the music is played at the beginning and end of the game, so most of the game is left without music. This was a processor issue for the Commodore 64, but the PC should have been able to handle the load. Leaving the whole game silent was probably just laziness on the behalf of porting process. The DOS version doesn't even have the help of the SID chip for sound effects, so you're left with the awful PC speaker.
Ripping
The *.M files are simply located in the installed directory. They were played using AdPlug and recorded through Winamp.
