Reviews
Game
The Commodore 64 port of Times of Lore was fairly weak technically. The graphics and sound weren't as good as some of the other ports, but it still has all of the functionality as the others. Although the NES port probably had the most playable version of the game, with the unlimited dagger throws and full-screen scrolling, the Commodore 64 port is still capable of entertainment.
Music
Because of Martin Galway's history on the SID chip, he may have originally wrote the music for the Commodore 64 and then ported it to other systems. Indeed, most of the music is identical to what you hear in the various ports. The title music for the Commodore 64 is especially long and it contains, not only the normal opening music, but a nice long mid tune and a wonderful solo ending. Aside from that, the nuances of the SID chip are the only real differences from the other ports, so the Title music and Ending, Part 1 are really good. Music is only played at the beginning and ending of the game because of the processing constraints of the game. This leaves most of the game rather quiet and dull, but the Commodore 64 port has a lot of nice sound effects.
Ripping
Ripping Commodore music is a very arduous process that is beyond the scope of this site.
