Game
Terminal Velocity is one of the first games published by Apogee since they started using the name 3D Realms. The game is a 3D dogfighter that allows the typical flying combat out in the open, but as a twist, you can also take the battle underground and engage the enemy in subterranean tunnels. Each level features several objectives and an ending boss to destroy. You can get multiple power ups including an afterburner and several weapons like lasers, missiles, and mines.
Music
The development team at Terminal Reality opted for MOD music instead of the more common XMI of the time. This worked out well in their favor because the music of Terminal Velocity has a much crisper sound than other games of the same time. The instruments aren't forced through general MIDI, or even preset instruments, they're given the exact samples they deserve. The music itself has a wonderful techno sound that really fits with the game's theme.
Ripping
Terminal Velocity's music and titles were ripped from the CDROM.POD or DISK.POD depending on which media you installed with. They use the FastTracker format of MOD and were recorded using Winamp.
