Game
Strife is a first-person shooter based on the DOOM engine. Like Heretic, it uses a hub system instead of a linear set of levels. There are some more adventure elements in the game as well, like the ability to talk to NPCs and and inventory. In the game, an alien race has invaded a steampunk society causing a terrible plague. Some of the plague's survivors had their minds taken over by the alien race and formed The Order. While there are rebels trying to stop them, The Order is pretty much taking over the land and slowly exterminating the humans. You are a member of the rebels and it is up to you to find the aliens and destroy them. Although the game is pretty good, it didn't sell very well because it was still using the DOOM engine while the Quake engine was being released.
Music
Although Strife's music isn't really that impressive overall, it still offers decent ambiance for the game. There are also few really nice tracks in the game that are worthy of listening to. Some of them can be downright annoying though.
Ripping
The music for Strife is located in the Strife1.Wad file and since the game is based off of the DOOM engine, it uses iD's MUS format. The music was ripped with Csabo's eXtendable Wad Editor and recorded using Winamp. The track titles are extrapolated from their names in the Wad and the order comes from the section order in the game.
