Reviews
Game
As far as the SIM series goes, SIM Life may have been a bit too complex for the average gamer. Unlike SIM City where most people are already comfortable with basics of how a city works, the average every-day person isn't too familiar with genetics, complex ecosystems, and evolution. Some adored the heavy involvement into biology, but others found the game too cumbersome, and without a way to "beat" the game, many players found it rather boring.
Music
Most of Maxis's games during the nineties had music capabilities, but nothing spectacular in the department and SIM Life follows that standard. The Windows version has the same eight tracks as the DOS edition; although unlike the Roland MT-32 capable DOS version, the Windows port only supported the dumbed down General MIDI standard. Even still, the tunes are friendly and familiar to those who enjoy the game.
Ripping
The type 1 MIDI files can be found in the ".\Sounds" folder from where the game is installed. They were recorded using Winamp.
