Reviews
Game
The 16-bit Windows version of SIM Farm is pretty much a direct port from the DOS version. The game reacts the same and has all of the same options and functions. Yet like most DOS to Windows ports before Windows 95, the multimedia suffers. The graphics are the same size, but have been decreased to the default 16 color Windows palette. The music is also dropped down to General MIDI quality. However, unlike the DOS resolution which is fixed at 640x480, the Windows version can be any size. This didn't matter much back on Windows 3.x when you were still stuck with 640x480, but on Windows 95 and above you can make the game as big as your largest resolution.
Music
The Windows music is very similar to the DOS music, although because the DOS version supported the Roland MT-32 its sound is more robust. Still, depending on which version you were more attached to you will probably want to download both and choose your favorite.
Ripping
The type 1 MIDI files were extracted from the .\Sound folder after installation and recorded with Winamp.
