Game
Rise of the Triad is a fast-paced first person shooter. Although its 3D engine wasn't as impressive as the earlier DOOM engine, it was still an exciting and fun game. There are plety of weapons and exploding body parts that the action gamers adore. The story is about a large religious cult that is trying to destroy Los Angeles and you're part of a special team to stop them.
Music
The majority of the game's music was composed by Lee Jackson, although Bobby Prince contributed a few songs as well. The overall quality of the music is very high for MIDI and the powerful tunes really fit the game's theme.
There are three tracks that are arranged from classical peices. "God Rest Ye, Deadly Gentlemen" is obviously from "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen" by Anonymous. "Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary" is from "The Queen's Funeral March" by Henry Purcell. "Adagio for Strings and Organ" was composed by Tomaso Albinoni.
Ripping
The music was ripped using Csabo's eXtendable Wad Editor. The titles are taken from the MIDI's meta tags and the play order is from the order the music files are stored in the DarkWar.wad file. The type 1 MIDI files were recorded with Winamp.
