Game

MechWarrior 2 was a solid mech fighting game that allowed you to pilot some of your favorite gigantic robots from the MechWarrior game series. Unlike some of the earlier mech games where you only controlled the movement of the mechs, MechWarrior 2 really allows you to take full control of the actions of your mech allowing you to even customize the locations of your weapons and armor. You have to watch your heat, turret angle, and remaining ammo while you put right in the middle of an epic fire fight. Learn to use your jump jets and zooming features to better battle your opponents. Unlike a lot of FPS or simulator games, MechWarrior 2 is actually quite difficult and you'll really need to have a good strategy to make it through the game.

Music

Thankfully, MechWarrior 2 uses CD audio to get a very rich and high quality soundtrack. The music is well put together and dramatic and intense, just like the game. In fact, the soundtrack won several awards from gaming review magazines at the time. Unfortunately, the game does not have an official track listing, so we have no names for the music. The Windows installer also features a MIDI track which has been recorded as well.

Ripping

Because the DOS and Windows versions of MechWarrior 2 used CD audio they had the same soundtrack which was ripped with CDex. The Windows version had a special type 1 MIDI track for the installer which is also included and was recoded using Winamp.
