Reviews
Game
To many people the sequel of the original Zelda was a let down. Indeed, Zelda 2 was completely reworked at the technical level. The sequel changed from the original top-down adventure game to a side-view platformer. The difficulty level was also increased quite a bit. These changes were a major turn-off to many fans. They wanted more elements of adventure, not more elements of Mario Brothers. The story elements are all there, but due to the drastic decrease in hidden items and the major game play changes most people were disappointed with the game. In actuality, Zelda 2 is quite solid and a lot of fun to play, but it is indeed only a mere shadow of the first.
Music
Like the first Legend of Zelda, Zelda II didn't have spectacular music. It has a couple of fun tracks and some good mood music, but at the end of 1986 when the music was created the composers were still trying to figure out how to even make music for the NES, let alone make good music. The titles come from the soundtrack, but a few tracks--that were merely sound effects--were left out.
Ripping
Ripping NES music is a very arduous process that is beyond the scope of this site.
