Game
The Serpent Riders of the Abyss have pillaged the world and destroyed the hope of humanity. While only one Serpent Rider remains to oversee their plans for the world you, a heretic, have decided to fight against him in order to try and end their reign. You will utilize various magical weapons and spells to fight his evil minions and save your fellow countrymen.
Heretic was built on the DOOM engine, but a few modifications have been made. You can look up and down, carry a limited inventory, and even fly later in the game. A great deal of the game play is similar to DOOM, but it's still a lot of fun if you like older first-person shooters.
Music
In addition to having a higher quality of sound over the DOOM games, the music of Heretic really has that epic orchestral sound that any fantasy game needs. Kevin Schilder really did well with this game.
Ripping
The music was ripped from the Heretic.Wad file and recorded with Winamp using the General MIDI setup over the poorer quality Sound Blaster setup.
