Game
Half-Life was a revolutionary first-person shooter. It kept all the elements of fear and dread from oldies like DOOM, and added a much cleaner 3D engine with proper 3D emulation to slope the walls and floors and also add fully 3D objects for enemies, items, switches, etc. The story about scientists accidentally creating a wormhole to an alien dimension was fairly typical, but the creativity of the levels and monsters kept the game exciting to the end.
Music
Kelly Bailey did a great job with Half-Life's music. The collection of tracks includes several ambiance and mood tunes, but also has quite a few more upbeat and driving rhythms. Because the game used digital audio they were able to get the exact sound that they wanted, and to top it all off, they used a high quality surround sound system for those who had the hardware to handle it.
Ripping
The soundtrack is CD audio on the game disc. It was ripped using CDEX.
