Game
Even though the movie was a success in the USA, the first videogame never actually made its way to the states on the NES, probably because it didn't do too well as an arcade game. It isn't that big of a loss, the game (like nearly every game made from a movie) isn't that great. There is little from the movie seen in the game; do you remember when Mikey killed the giant rat to get a bomb to blow open a door to get a red potion? Neither do I. Anyway, you must beat up mice, foxes, bats, skeletons, and of course the Fratellis in order to save your Goonie friends. Each stage has a Goonie and three keys that are needed to get to the next stage. It's pretty tough when you first play, but it becomes very easy once you memorize the maps.
Music
The game's theme is Cyndi Lauper's, "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" which would later be improved upon for The Goonies II. It also has a few other basic songs. Nothing too impressive. The game also lacks credits.
Ripping
The Goonies rip is missing the Stage 5 music.
Ripping NES music is a very arduous process that is beyond the scope of this site.
