Game
Final Fantasy III was so titled due to the way the Final Fantasy games were released in the USA. The USA only saw Final Fantasy 1, 4, and 6 which were named Final Fantasy 1, 2, and 3 in order to keep continuity. However, by the time Final Fantasy 7 came out in Japan, the American side of Squaresoft decided that to prevent further confusion they would simply call it Final Fantasy 7 in the USA as well.
The game is often hailed as one of the best RPGs ever made. It has a compelling and involved story line that abounds with side quests and secrets. The graphics were spectacular for the time and still hold up well. The game mechanics were very standard to the typical RPG, but also several innovative additions were made.
Music
The music for Final Fantasy III is spectacular. Aside from having an extremely large soundtrack, the game also has a very well composed soundtrack. The music covers a wide range of different styles and tempos, and it is always fitting to the situation in the game. This soundtrack is usually ranked in the top 10 best SNES soundtracks.
Several soundtracks were released for Final Fantasy III. The USA released features a few renamed title tracks, however the VGMPF uses the translated Japanese titles.
Ripping
Ripping SNES music is a very complex process that is beyond the scope of this site.
