MPEG Audio Layer 3 URL (*.m3u)

Description

M3U, in its entirety, stands for "Moving Picture Experts Group Audio Layer 3 Uniform Resource Locator", but can more easily be abbreviated as "MP3 URL". An M3U is a playlist for music. It is stored as a text file containing a list of music files and their location. With an M3U you can create playlists that include music from multiple different sources. The Videogame Music Preservation Foundation includes an M3U for each game and album it has so that you may listen to the videogame music from any source with an Internet connection.

Most media players support M3U playlists including Winamp, VLC, MPlayer, Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, and iTunes.
