id Music Format (*.imf, *.wlf, *.adlib) Description id's music format (the name is a guess) is an AdLib audio format developed by id Software. It's was designed to be played through FM Synthesis on an AdLib card. In fact, the format is actually very similar to to the AdLib command syntax. The format can be played through AdPlug, but since the format doesn't store the playback rate it's been difficult for players to play back the songs at the right tempo. You may have to experiment with the different versions of AdPlug to get the correct playback speed. The *.wlf extension is an older extension that was used by some ripping devices that were exclusive to Wolfenstein 3D, even though the Wolfenstein 3D data files use the IMF extension. Most later programs were written to use the correct IMF extension. Also, some people have ripped to an *.adlib extension, which should also be converted to *.imf.
