Shougo Sakai was born in 1960. In 1987 he started work for Data East as a composer. He continued working for Data East until 1993 writing music for their NES, Genesis, and Turbo-Grafx 16 platforms. In 2001 he started working for HAL Laboratory, Inc. again as a composer, and he continues to write music for them to this day.
