Masato Nakamura was born on October 1, 1958, in Japan. Right after he started as a bassist for his band Dreams Come Sega asked him to compose music for Sonic the Hedgehog. Inspired by the Sonic Team's enthusiasm, he went on to compose music for the first two Sonic games and retained the publishing rights to Sonic the Hedgehog 2's music.
Nakamura's very first piece of music composed for videogames was the Green Hill Zone track, which is also usually recognized as his best piece of work.
Nakamura continues to write music and play bass in his Japanese rock band Dreams Come True. He recently collaboration with the US rapper Akon to produce a remix of "Sweet Sweet Sweet".
