Jeffery L. Briggs Biography Aliases: Jeffery L. Briggs Home Country: Unknown Jeff Briggs has worked as a music composer, a game designer, and a producer. Jeff's first work in the videogame industry started in 1984 with West End Games. He worked there for four years before he started working for MicroProse. During this time he developed a relationship with designer Sid Meier and has worked one nearly every Sid Meier game whether it be composing music, producing, or helping with the game design. In 1996 Briggs, Meier, and Brian Reynolds left MicroProse and founded Firaxis Games together. MicroProse was officially sold in 1998. Briggs is currently the President of Firaxis Games. Briggs received a Bachelor of Science from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music from Memphis University, and a doctorate in Music Composition and Theory from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. In 2003 he was Ernst and Young's Maryland Technology Entrepreneur of the Year and he was also given the CEO of the Year award in 2004 by SmartCEO Magazine.
