Georges Bizet was born on October 25, 1838 in Paris, France. Although his legal name was Alexandre-César-Léopold Bizet, he was baptized to Georges Bizet which he always used.
Bizet's musical talent was seen at an early age. He started at the Paris Conservatory of Music at the age on 9 and wrote a symphony (Symphony in C Major) at the age of 17; although the symphony did not become popular until long after he had died.
While at the Conservatoire Bizet studied under Fromental Halévy. He later married his teacher's daughter with whom he had a son.
Although he composed many operas and various other works, Bizet is best known for the opera Carmen which was inspired by the book. Carmen was first heard on March 3, 1875 and was received as a critical failure, being cited as too immoral for the time. However, much praise was given by the other well known composers of the time, and now Carmen is one of the most popular operas.
Bizet didn't live long enough to witness the success of Carmen dying shortly after it's debut on June 3, 1875. His death was caused by angina and he was buried in the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
Note: Since Bizet was not a videogame music composer, his gameography is in alphabetical order.
