Walk Through
Head right after you parachute in to get to the structure. You'll encounter rifle soldiers which you should be familiar with by now. Start working your way up the structure. The first set of lamp posts you get to are easy to get past. Climb straight up them, and pull yourself on top of them. As you fall, throw your arm straight up again to get to the platform above you.
A little higher up and you'll be at a place where you can't normally reach the next platform. Head to the lamp post on the right and pull yourself up on top of it. Make sure that you're on the left side of the lamp post and you'll start to fall down the left side when you get on top of it. As you fall, throw your arm at an angle to the left to grab the top of the small structure and then pull yourself up.
Get up past the barrels and head to the left. Wipe out the pack of rifle soldiers and avoid the ball and chain. Remember, the ball can't knock you back when you're swinging. Head up a couple more platforms and go into the communication room. Talk to your allies for some hints and wiretap for some more.
When you leave the room you'll notice that the map magically shifted to allow you to climb higher again. This section of the map should be done quickly because the longer you wait the more barrier soldiers you'll encounter. These little guys fly sideways on propeller packs and shoot down a laser barrier to hit you. If you equipped the wide cannon you will have a minor advantage to hit them. To drop them into range of your normal gun, hit them with your bionic arm and they will lose a little altitude. Once they're in range you can finally shoot them.
Also, as you climb through this section you'll see the fixed laser. It's a laser cannon that remains fixed to the under-side of a platform and intermittently shoots lasers to the left and right. These lasers will knock your bionic arm down if it's attached, and also hurt you if you get hit. Time your swings properly to avoid them.
When you get high enough you'll recognize that difficult section where you have to swing up to the lamp post and grab the ledge while you're dropping. Only this time the relentless barrier soldiers will be getting in your way. Try to move quickly, and you'll eventually make it to the second communicator room, again talk to your buddies and wiretap for information.
When you make it out you'll notice that the platforms have been altered again to allow you to advance further. Now, instead of barrier soldiers, you have paratroopers to deal with. Once again, it's important to go as quickly as possible through this section to keep the amount of enemy soldiers to a minimum.
At this juncture you'll have to deal with springs for the first time. The springs will complicate things, but their also necessary to get to the hard-to-reach platforms. Pull yourself up onto the springs and then as you're shot up and flying in the air, throw your arm out to grab the higher ledge. You'll have to use this trick twice to get up to the top and then you'll finally make it to the boss room.
The boss is the guardian system robot. It drops back to guard the main system and shoots three bullets in a spread pattern at you. There are two ways of dealing with the robot boss. You can stand on one of the platforms, avoid its fire, and start blasting bullets into it until it explodes or, you can sneak past it while it's high in the air. When you get past it you can't get hurt by its bullets and you can simply shoot at it from behind at you're leisure. Once it's dead you're free to wipe out the main system. Your reward will be the best gun in the game, the rocket launcher!
Regional Differences
In the Japanese version there are extra ball and chain hazards and there is a parachute package in the middle section.
