Arms almost not broken

Feeling: Injured

2007/06/29

The cast on my right arm has been replaced with a removable splint. The doctor didn't even say anything about me having the cast cut off early, which was to be expected. He was in and out in about 30 seconds. Well, with the new splint I now have the ability to bend my elbow which means I can do all sorts of things that I wasn't able to do before like actually touch my face. In fact, I was very pleased with myself today for being able to put on socks all by myself (I'm a big boy now). My left cast will still be on for three more weeks, but at least now my quality of life has improved dramatically.

My friend Kimberly came up from Missouri to visit yesterday evening and we saw the movie Knocked Up, which was pretty good. We're hanging out today as well and we'll be making hard candy. I'm very happy because I'll soon have clove flavored candy, and clove candy rocks, yo!

I've posted the soundtrack of Mu-cade in the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation.

Since I have little to do at home now except watch movies and TV, I've been downloading a bunch of stuff. One show in particular that I remember from my childhood which I was able to find is Captain N: The Game Master. It's a show all about videogame land, and the videogame heroes who try to protect it from the videogame villains. Can we say AWESOME? Okay, so it's awful, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy making fun of it.

Things that I've learned -not- to do when you have two broken arms.

1.) When you hit the pavement and break your arms don't ride your bike a mile home.
2.) When you get home with broken arms, don't carry your bike up a flight of stairs into your apartment.
3.) If your clothes are muddy, don't bother changing into clean clothes before going to the hospital.
4.) Don't demand that your doctor cut off your cast a week early, even if it feels okay.
5.) Don't let certain people draw on your cast unless you don't mind everyone thinking you have a lot of gay pride.
6.) Don't break both of your arms at once. It sucks.

Solstice, yo!

Today is the first day of summer, and of course I'm sitting at home with both of my arms in casts. Figures.

It has been brought to my attention that I have yet to tell the tale of my broken arm adventure on my site. Thusly... I was riding my bike on the sidewalk down a nice big hill and I was going pretty fast. I came to an unmarked crosswalk at the bottom of a hill and saw a car waiting for me to pass. Not wanting to make them wait, I continued going fast up to the road. However, the car behind the car that was waiting for me tried to pass them and pulled out in front of me. I slammed my breaks so not to hit them thereby flipping myself over the handlebars in a cool Superman dive (remember kids, the front brake is evil!). Instinctually, my hands went out to brace myself, but the weight of my body crushed my hands.

The physical damage is a fractured left radius, a dislocated right radius and ulna, some pretty abrasions on my hands and knees, and a bruised rib. I'll let you know what the monetary damage is after everything is done.

I'm going to work again, but both of the casts are still on. The bone/joint doctor I saw won't remove the right cast until the 29th because he sucks. He looked like he was in the mafia and didn't even know which arm had the dislocation. I trust his judgment about as well as I can do push-ups. I think I'm going to just cut it off myself this Friday because I don't feel like having it on for two more weeks. Anyway, I still suck at typing and clicking so don't expect too many updates soon. Hopefully, when I get a free hand I'll be able to get some more impressive entries.

It's real. See the casts? Ignore the underwear and unwashed/unbrushed hair. This update only took twenty minutes!

I broke both my arms--don't expect an update soon.

My muscles are still nice and sore, especially my throwing arm, but I'm starting to get my swing back. I've got another open house tonight. These darn graduates are like money vampires, I tell you what!

If it's been awhile since you've seen it, or if you haven't seen it at all, take a look at the Abbott and Costello Who's On First? skit. Then watch a humorous mockery of George Bush with Hu's In China?. And of course, the Animaniacs version of Who's On Stage?.

My lyrics page now has over to 2,450 lyrics. Although, it's only music I like, so don't get your hopes up.

I had a really great weekend that consisted of several activities which caused physical wear and tear on my person. Biking, dodgeball, Mongolian wrestling, boffering, and one other that I won't mention. My body is nice and sore, but it was totally worth it.

The Heretic soundtrack is now available for download in the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation. I hope to have the Hexen soundtrack out soon.

The soundtrack for Rise of the Triad: Dark War is now in the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation.

And of course, forum. Yeah.

June's open house is this weekend and hopefully some other splendid events will take place. Toodles!

Mountain bike, $320.
Biking shorts, $15.
Not seeing the drainage pipe covered in grass at the bottom of a hill and landing on your knee, priceless.

If you haven't signed up on my new forum then take a look at all the exciting banter you're missing out on.

For some reason I'm really getting into the Green Day album American Idiot. I know it's been out for a few years now, but it wasn't until just recently that I started actually listening to the non-single songs. I know I'm late on saying this, but it's a really good album.

As a firm believer in the separation of church and state I have taken to a form of civil disobedience. When I get American currency I take a marker and black out the word "god" from the "In god we trust" motto. A few days ago I was finally able to do this to a $100 dollar bill.

The Arkanoid and Terminator fonts have been moved into the Game Font Database.

I added a whole bunch of hacking notes for Ulima: Exodus and did some clean up to several other games.

My forum is still moving along nicely. So a big "thank you" to everyone who has contributed.

I've re-encoded the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past soundtrack in the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation.

I moved the updates from May into the old news page.

And of course, I'm going to advertise my new forum just a little bit longer. There are over ten people on it now--amazing!

Over the weekend I transferred a large portion of my old bank account to my new one. It felt very strange carrying a five-figured check around, even if only for a short while. The teller at my new bank seemed a bit rude when she asked me, "where I obtained my funds." I assume it's her job to ask when someone comes in with a large check, but it seems rather unprofessional not to trust your client. They can find out whether the check is legit simply by calling the bank that issued it, they really didn't need to grill me over it.

While I was at the bank, I saw this attractive looking girl. She was wearing some pseudo-punk clothes--cutoff slacks, tight band shirt, wallet chain, and she had her hair pulled up into two little pigtail buns, which are totally adorable. Then, when she turned around I recognized her as a girl that totally blew me off a year ago. It made me a little angry to know that even though she's a bitch I still find her attractive. I guess that's just typical for a guy though.

I also attended my cousin's wedding reception on Saturday which was fun. Afterward, I went to hang out with the arcade crowd and ended up staying up until about 6:00 AM. I got a little shopping done in the afternoon and played a rousing game of Magic: The Gathering before finally heading home on Sunday.

My Grey's Anatomy quiz has a few corrections. Some of the character profiles have been reworked and some typos were fixed thanks to Jackie.

My forum is finally starting to get a little traffic behind it, although I still wouldn't mind seeing more people in it ;-). If you signed up for it, but your activation email never came through, your account should now be active, so check again.

The Game Font Database has been updated with fonts for Killer Instinct and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Are you with me so far?

As promised my Grey's Anatomy quiz is online. It's still a little rough around the edges. If you see any typos and errors please let me know. I came up as Preston Burke, which I feel is rather fitting.

Very few of you have created an account on my new forum. You know you want to. Hell, you need to.

I've added a minor updated to the Videogame Music Preservation Foundation by adding the ripped soundtrack of the Age of the Dragon Project. The MySpace page for the VGMPF has finally surpassed my personal MySpace page in total friends. I don't know if I should be happy or depressed by that count.

I've added a video page to my humor section. Everything on the page has been linked to at one point in my site's history, but this makes them a lot easier to find.

This evening I'm going to go to dinner with Jackie and her mother who is having a birthday today. Saturday, I'll be at my cousin's wedding. On Sunday, if I'm lucky, I'll be sleeping through the entire thing.

Dr. Jack Kevorkian was released from prison today on good behavior after serving 8 years of a 10-25 year sentence. I find it interesting that when Kevorkian went into prison I was against euthanasia, but now, 8 years later, I've changed my view to being pro euthanasia. This change was brought on by looking at the topic from an objective stand point as opposed to a religious one. Also, it's really easy to be against euthanasia when you're only 18 and in perfect health, it's something completely different when you're 83 and suffering from untreatable lung cancer. Having respect for our elders means agreeing with their wishes even when they will make us sad.
