Sunburn on my shoulders makes me happy

Feeling: Sleepy

2005/05/31

I'll have my full weekend recap up probably tomorrow. For now I'm still nursing my wounds and remembering what it feels like to sleep in a real bed. The three-day weekend has put me a bit behind on my correspondences as well.

Woah! There is a new video at Rilo Kiley's site for Portions for Foxes!

An important message to America's youth. Don't believe everything they teach you in school. I know you probably aren't paying attention at school anyway, but for the stuff that you are unable to shut-out, remember that a lot of it is wrong. I'm very bothered by the fact that not only was a good amount of the information my school taught incorrect, but some of it was an outright lie. I was told that Columbus and the pilgrims were just cozy friends with the natives. Give me a break!

I'm currently advertising the Goo Goo Dolls' Dizzy Up the Girl album. Certainly their most successful album, and my favorite of the four that I've heard.

Who writes these things anyway?

I'm looking for a cartoonist to draw a comic that I've been writing. I desire someone who is skilled in Western cartoon style (not anime) and someone who uses digital coloring. An example of the style I'm looking for can be seen at Ctrl + Alt + Del. The payment will be dependent upon the quality of the work. If you are a cartoonist, or if you know a cartoonist, please contact me so that I can interview you for the job.

Well, I'm off to a Rocky Horror Picture Show party tonight! And the weekend will be full of Mayfaire goodness. Be back on Tuesday.

My words are a matter of pride

Guess what I did last night. If you guessed "DDR" then you win a gold star! However, I don't have any gold stars on me right now, so if you want it, you'll have to go to the store and pick it up yourself. Also, I couldn't to buy that many gold stars so you'll have to pay for them out of your own pocket. But think of the envy you'll instill into your friends who don't have a beautiful gold star.

I've been working on the way I handle redirection from my depreciated pages. Up until now I did an instant meta-redirect. Although this works for bot generated links, everyone that directly linked to these pages doesn't know to fix them. So I've created the typical 5 second delay redirect which should hopefully fix this problem.

Learning PHP is going quicker than I expected. It makes me all happy to experience the joy of learning a new language. It's similar to learning a new vocal language in the sense that they are different and unique, but there is still that comfortable familiarness of commonality that languages tend to share.

I'm gonna break out of this world, and fly high to the skies!

Feeling: Cheery

2005/05/25

So I went to the grocery store and bought stuff so that I could cook dinner. I figure that cooking is one of those things that I should probably try to better myself at. Cooking by yourself is boring, but cooking with a friend is slpendifferous! Also, I hear that the ladies dig a guy that can cook. I also bought the Mickey DVD, thus completing the Disney collection in reverse order.

There are several new pictures added from the Rilo Kiley concert, thanks to Kimberly's camera. I also have the picture of my prison wenching posted as well and a couple others that I stole from April.

I finally got PHP up and working on my web server and I'm playing around with it right now. It seems very easy to use. After I get the basics of the syntax I'll look into setting up a database back-end.

Today, in 1961, Project Apollo was announced by JFK, and the goal of putting a man on the Moon had begun.

DDR last night, as usual. I also got caught up with my back emails finally. Aside from that, I'm still recuperating from throwing my sleep cycle out of wack. It's been fun.

I've done some major reworking on the high res flag database. In addition to eight new flags, (Benin, Chile, Denmark, Finland, Kuwait, Panamá, Syria, and Togo) I've added a FAQ to help explain the purpose of the database, as well as the reason for its formats. There are currently 44 unique flags.

You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie

Feeling: Flirty

The weekend was really spectacular and I'm sore, bruised, and tired and feeling great. Friday, after some good old fashioned DDR, I took Nikki out to dinner which was a lot of fun. When I got back home I packed for the faire weekend which I have documented on a seperate page.

If you're ever headed south into Detroit on I-75 you'll come across everyone's favorite exit, 69. The great thing about exit 69 is that the road name is so fitting that it makes you wonder if it was planned to have that name. Many folks from other states don't believe you when you tell them, so I've taken a picture to prove it.

Something I haven't done in awhile is update the high resolution flag database which now contains the flags for Honduras and the Sudan.

Some days they last longer than others

Feeling: Cool

2005/05/20

I've got all my pictures from the Rilo Kiley concert up now, along with the set list and some merchandise.

Last night I watched the movie Dazed and Confused, which was actually pretty good as far as teen movies go. It actually had a subtle message behind it unlike most of the others.

The Mayfaire Renaissance Festival is this weekend. It's been a long faireless winter and I'm certainly ready to be surrounded by sexy wenches in corsets again. Somehow I never seem to tire of that.

You wanna fool around, I ask... YES!

Feeling: Sleepy

2005/05/19

Well, the Rilo Kiley concert was spectacular. I'll have the full details, plus pictures, merchandise, and other stuff up soon after I've had time to recuperate.

My new book Neuromancer: 20th Anniversary Edition arrived yesterday. Finally, I can read the book that invented Cyberpunk.

My quiz database now contains over 2000 questions.

Can vanity and happiness coexist?

Rilo Kiley tonight! Sweet!

And I remembered why I loved her,
And I asked her why I drove her off

Plenty of memories. First, About two years ago I beat Magic: The Gathering, the computer game created by the now defunct Microprose. That's 61 games beaten. Second, over the weekend I took an intelligence test which ranked me as "gifted" claiming that I am in the top 5 percentile of the world. How about that? I'm a jean-yus! Third, I updated my DDR high scores page on Saturday.

New today, I've added the complete Seiken Densetsu 3 soundtrack to my video game music page. The full soundtrack is in vorbis format and takes up over 100 MB, so I hope you have broadband!

I'm going to go off on a rant for a moment, so bear with me. I'm really disappointed in myself for not creating new things. If you look at my site you will see that the majority of the stuff here has been built to honor someone else's creations, and I'm getting sick of it. Every time I put time and effort into creating a shrine for a game or movie I'm taking away time that I could be spending on my own work. I'm creative, I'm original, I should be making new work, not just standing on the shoulders of others. Now comes the hard part, actually doing that.

Tomorrow is the Rilo Kiley concert! WHEEE!

Watch your honey drip, can't keep away

Feeling: Sleepy

2005/05/16

On my way to the arcade on Saturday I saw a very funny situation. At the off-ramp of the expressway homeless people stand at the light hoping to get some charity from the people forced to stop there. I've never been a fan of handouts, but I do understand that people can be down-on-their luck and sometimes need them. The person in front of me rolled down their window and held something out. The homeless person ran over to and received, instead of money, a job application. I could help myself and burst out laughing. Off all the things that could be given to this person, that was probably the most helpful.

I completed Times of Lore on Saturday, bringing my total completed games up to 60. I'm also working on the Times of Lore site, which I should have up soon.

I also finished reading Lord of the Flies. The majority of the book was rather slow paced, but the ending was quite exciting. Usually, I prefer an ending that resolves the issues faced in the story, but in this case, I was glad to see that nothing was properly resolved, just like human nature.

I've added a new game to the video game music page. How could I have left out Seiklus with its amazing MOD music? As such, I had to create a new format icon for MOD and a Winamp plug-in as well.

Also, the movie of Rent now has an official web site. The site itself is under construction, but they already have cast blogs online!

Two days until the Rilo Kiley concert! w00t!

Friggatriskaidekaphobiaists beware!

Feeling: Happy

2005/05/13

I cut my toe last night. I hope it doesn't effect my DDR playing abilities too much.

I've added a minor review for Ultima 7, Part 2: Serpent Isle. I'm currently working on a page for the NES port for Times of Lore, since nobody else has one. I'll have the text version finished soon, but actually taking screenshots might be awhile.

There are several new links on my More Links page. I'll bet most of you didn't even know that page existed!

Come alive, and shake the foundations from the skies

Feeling: Cheery

2005/05/12

Just in case anyone is wondering, I'm currently playing Times of Lore for the NES and reading Lord of the Flies. Exciting isn't it?

I had another weird dream this morning. It's documented in my dream log.

Also, for your reading pleasure, my gurus have answered another one of your feeble questions.

I've also updated my wishlist for those of you who would like to buy me cool stuffs.

Monarch, you suck

Octavia is running smoothly. I kept her on all night long and didn't have any problems. A few more days and I'll even be caught up with my emails.

I had another weird dream this morning.

I've added two more LAN game reviews for Myth 2: Soulblighter and Myth: Total Codex.

Equal is Sweet and Low, sugar will set you free

Feeling: Excited

2005/05/10

Octavia is officially up and running. I spent most of the night reloading and trying to catch up on emails. Still have about four more hours of reloading, but she's well on her way to being completed. After I finish with her I can work on Aranha.

While reloading I watched the movie Napoleon Dynamite. All I can say is, how in the world did this become popular?

I've added two new LAN game reviews for Diablo and Myth: The Fallen Lords. I also added a way to purchase every game from Amazon, or when Amazon didn't have it, a secondary site.

I set my sights on Monday, and I got myself undressed

Feeling: Excited

2005/05/09

Even though I doubt you've noticed (unless you pay real close attention to the IP of the sites you visit), I have some big news! My webpage is now officially on its own server! That's right, thealmightyguru.com is now being served by Aranha. You will probably notice some real changes soon like database driven sites as soon as I teach myself PHP and SQL Lite.

New stuffs from this weekend include the Goofy DVD and Lord of the Flies 50th anniversary edition.

Weekend stuff includes seeing Amanda for the first time in about two months, attempting to map an DNR area in Grand Blanc, and not seeing my mother because she was sick on Mother's Day.

I picked up several new personal bests in DDR over the weekend which can be seen at my DDR page.

More good news, my new mobo and CPU arrived today! Because both main parts of the PC have changed, thus the computer is officially different, my new computer requires a name. I have decided upon Octavia which is the Latin name meaning "the 8th". The meaning is that 8 x 8 is 64, and she has a 64 bit processor. She'll most likely require a full OS reload, so she probably won't be fully operational until tomorrow, but she's here!

Let the music smother me, whole weekend recovery
Dancing on a Friday night

Feeling: Blah

2005/05/06

I finished reading Goblet of Fire again last night. It's equally good the second time around. I'm curious as to what the movie is going to be like. They'll have to cut out so much of the book.

It's amazing how much less there is to do at night when you don't have a computer. No email, music, or games. I ended up going to bed an hour earlier than usual. Oh fates how you mock me!

I've added a review of The Darkness to my other artists page.

I pushed April to the old news page.

My quiz list is now 1800+ questions. I hope to get it online soon, but I have a few other concerns before I get back to my web server.

But lovers always come come and lovers always go

Feeling: Sad

2005/05/05

Kendra is dead. The motherboard is shot, the CPU is shot (but I'm getting a refund on it). I think I should have a funeral for her. But, life must go on, so last night I ordered a new CPU and mobo and paid extra for shipping. It should be here on Friday or Saturday. It's an AMD 64 3200 754, 800 FSB, and a Gigabyte board.

I've added four new game fonts including 8-bit Limit, DP Comic, Kongtext, and Yosters Island.

Last night (computer death aside) was interesting in a good way. Went out to dinner alone, saw that my cousin is working at the restaurant I frequent, also got to chat a little more with the pretty hostess. Went shopping and picked up the Chip and Dale DVD (the cartoons, not the male strippers). I remember most of them, and they're even more funny than before because I can put so much more adult humor into them.

Where I work a large restroom is shared between several office suites. One of the guys that works in another office always wears a wireless phone headset into the restroom with him and carries on a conversation while using the facilities. It's very hard not to laugh because it looks like he's holding a conversation with his penis. Today during his conversation with his penis he kept giving affirmations like "Yup", "Uh-huh", "Mmmm". It was as if he was trying to convince his penis to work properly.

Today is the birthday of Michael Palin and John Rhys-Davies.

Well I feel so broke up, I wanna go home

Feeling: Annoyed

2005/05/04

My computer is still not working. I really wish I could get a normal symptom to help me figure out what the problem is. Sometimes it won't boot to the BIOS (which would be a board issue), sometimes it boots past the BIOS but fails loading the OS (which would be a hard drive / software issue), and sometimes it boots just fine (which really makes it hard to figure out).

Just for the heck of it, I've logged out the music of the NES game Bad Dudes. Although the music isn't too spectacular, I do enjoy the second track very much. So if you want to download it check out my Bad Dudes music site. It has the NSF file and music in vorbis format, of course. I also made a quick review for the game.

A few days ago, I was walking out to my car and saw a bird hatchling dead in the parking lot. I assume that it had been carried from its nest by a predator, but then dropped for some reason because it was no where near a tree. It was still featherless and frail looking, rather sad to see. I don't know why, but I felt the desire to take a picture of it. If you can handle seeing it, here it is.

Some personal bragging. For the first time in my life my bank account has reached five figures. Well, as soo as my credit card payment clears it will be back down again, but for the day, I'm happy.

I hate computers!

Feeling: Annoyed

2005/05/03

Okay, long weekend wrap up. Friday, I took half the day off so that I could watch the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and also go to the Flint Area LAN party. H2G2 was very good and I laughed through most of it. It contained several sections that were not canon to the book, but the quality of the movie made up for it. The opening song was sickeningly catchy, and there were plenty of inside jokes that people who didn't read the books wouldn't catch. Be sure to stay after the credits for one last joke.

The LAN party was great up until about 1:00 AM where my computer died on me. I think it's just software, perhaps a virus, but I'm not yet sure. However, I did win the Soldat tournament! (Well, technically, I took second behind Zolcos, who once again owned all of us. My prize was a 50 disc CD-R spindle. Groovy.

Saturday, slept-in, DDR, clothes shopping. Picked up some new shirts and jeans. Sunday, slept-in, DDR, grocery shopping. Also, picked up Marry Poppins 40th anniversary edition. Julie Andrews is both sexy and narcissistic in the movie. Yeow!
